Animals Around the World: An Artistic Safari- Part One
Animals Around the World: An Artistic Safari- Part One
Days: Wednesday
Starts: September 10
Last class: December 17
No classes: October 15, November 12, November 26
Times: 3:15 - 5:00
Age: 2nd-5th grade
Teacher: Grandma Kitty and Grandma Nancy
Description:
Get ready for some more clay modeling fun this year! With two teachers, Animals Around the World promises to be even more creative than ever. Nancy Lee, another MIS grandparent, will be co-teaching the class with Grandma Kitty this semester.
The first semester covers animals found in the Backyard, the Farm and animals that are native to the North American continent. Class finishes up north in the Arctic Circle - just in time to celebrate winter animals and holiday themes.
For those who wish to continue the expedition after winter break, Part Two of the class will begin with Insects; then the circumnavigation resumes with Eurasian Animals, Animals of Oceania, African Animals, Ocean Animals and finally South American Animals.
The class is offered in two parts because the earth is a big planet, and it takes two semesters to travel to all the places with cool animals. Either class can be taken independently; there are no prerequisites. There are also no limits… kids who have previously taken AATW will benefit from learning more advanced techniques and the opportunity to take their style to the next level. Beginners and veterans are welcome!
The class emphasizes artistic style while teaching technical skills. Students learn to develop their own unique vision, using instructions as guidelines rather than rules. Clay modeling is fun! Structured clay modeling with artistic outcomes is way beyond fun….
It’s Animals Around the World!
Snacks and art supplies are included. Sign up today!
