From Roots to Wings:
30 Years of Growing Futures
Dear MIS Community,
Thirty years ago, a vision was planted—a dream rooted in hope, learning, and the belief that a strong foundation could lead to something beautiful. As we celebrate MIS’s 30th anniversary, we honor how deeply those roots have grown and how far our wings have carried us.
In 1995, when I first walked through these doors with my 3-year-old, I hoped for the chance to give my child the gift of a second language. That hope soon transformed into excitement for what we could create together—for many children, families, and a community of learners. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of watching MIS evolve, grow, and soar like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon.
Our theme, From Roots to Wings, captures this journey. The roots symbolize our shared beginnings—dreams, dedication, and support from everyone in our community. And the wings? They represent the growth, confidence, and knowledge our students carry with them as they take flight.
This celebration is not just about the years, but about the people. Every teacher, staff member,, board member, volunteer, parent, and student has contributed to the school we are today. You are the roots that have helped us soar.
As you explore the pages of this booklet, know that we carry forward a deep gratitude for the past, the present, and the exciting future that awaits us.
With warmth and celebration,
Julie Lennox
